About KC’s Dog Listener

Dani Rouse Holland, the Dog Listener of K9 Instincts LLC, has Foundation and Advanced

Kansas City Dog Training and Behavior Specialist

Certification in Canine Communication. She is one of a few people in North America who have this certification.  Dani developed PAWS®to help her clients remember the four areas of dog listening to gain the willing cooperation of their dogs.

Dani has spent several years fostering dogs for shelters and rescue groups.  She found a book on dog listening while fostering dogs.  She liked the humane, non-confrontational techniques and not using force, gadgets, or drugs when working with dogs.  She started applying these techniques to her companion and foster dogs.

She credits dog listening with enabling her to rescue an abandoned pack of dogs that had been left alone for about 5 months.  This canine pack of a mom and 3 pups had been surviving on their own and were leery of human contact.  By using dog listening techniques, Dani and another rescuer were able to gain their trust and rescue them in 2 weekends!  All of these dogs were adopted into their forever homes!

After this successful rescue, Dani investigated dog listening techniques in depth and travelled to the United Kingdom to receive her Foundation and Advanced Certificates in Canine Communication. She is affiliated with Pure Dog Listeners (PDL) of the United Kingdom and Dog Listeners Down Under (DLDU) of Australia and New Zealand.
